Default Item rarity

Are there really rare items in this game? Can you become rich or is it really easy to find all the best gear and everybody is uber?

Are there really rare items in this game? YES
Can you become rich? YES
Is it really easy to find all the best gear? NO
and everybody is uber? NO

Hard to get Uber in this game.
Looking better than others... Yes!
Having a slight advantage over your peers? Yes.

If your a good player then that slight advantage is going to help you stay on top.
If your not so good then that advantage may keep you in the running.
If your a dougnut then no amount of good kit will help you as it does not make that much of a difference

Yep:

PLAYER SKILL > SKILLS AVAILABLE (for you to use) > LEVELS >>> ITEMS

The way it should be.

More like

Skills avaliable > Runes > Level = Player Skills > Items.

I disagree, runes will not give you a major advantage, as a 1 pt differene in a skill attribute normally is not the end all, be all. And even +2 and +3, you do take a health hit, which often times is worse than not having the rune at all. Obviously the rune of Vigor is a different beast, and yes, chances are a newbie weapon will not hold up against a Sword of Major Smackdown, but still... how you use it is critical.

My opinion of course.

Teamwork is key above all those things really.
I would rather be with a good bunch of teamworking players who have basic PvP characters any day rather than a group of individuals who all love their equipment and skills.
The question you need to ask yourself is why your running up to that guy with the flaming sword and 75k armour and probably every rune and skilll he can find. - If you just intend to do some 1 vs 1 smackdown then your a fool.
If your team has called his doom and your just going to give him something to hit before he realises his error! Then your onto a winner!
